COOLNESS EVERYWHERE. I AM SURROUNDED BY COOL.

From the latest Orbit press release:

THE HUNDRED THOUSAND KINGDOMS, by N.K. Jemisin, is a brilliantly original debut fantasy. A young woman vies to become the heir to the throne of the Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, and must bargain with the gods themselves to save her life – and her people.

I’m not sure I’ll ever get enough of seeing this in print. =)

Also, does this sound incredibly interesting, or what?

Gail Carriger’s SOULLESS introduces Alexia Tarabotti, a spinster who foils an attack by a vampire (with a parasol, no less) only to be dragged into the supernatural politics of Victorian London (where parasols will become increasingly handy). A novel with equal parts wit and action, SOULLESS is a comedy of manners with vampires – a thrilling and hilarious debut.

Which reminds me — an unrelated congrats to fellow Altered Fluidian Alaya Dawn Johnson, who has also written a rather unique-sounding vampire novel, and sold it too:

THE VAMPIRE SUFFRAGETTE, the first in a series, set it 1920s NY, when creatures of the night of every kind are also being discriminated against — and one woman is going to do something about it, to Karen Marcus at Thomas Dunne Books, in a two-book deal, by Ken Atchity at AEI Literary Management. (Publishers Marketplace)

I might actually be lured back into reading vampire fiction at this rate. =)

And I managed to breed my dragons at last! (And yes, I think this is cool too. Shuddup.)
